During July 2005, ETS took
delivery of all 12 Calgary Transit ELF's (including 8502). Calgary had sold the
ELF's because they weren't well liked there and had been made surplus by a
delivery of Crestline's. While I'm not sure of the exact reason for purchasing
them, they were having a para transit bus shortage. It could have been time
lines on new buses would have allowed for delivery for the fall signup (when a
lot of service is being added and will probably require additional para transit
buses). They probably got a good deal on the buses as well. ETS may not have
been pleased with the demonstrators that plied the route 304 in the early part
of the year.
Rumour has it two buses will be for parts with 8502 being the obvious candidate
for one of them.
